Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Wispro collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our Windows application and website.
1. Information We Process
Audio and transcribed text
Wispro records audio only when you start a dictation. To provide transcription, the recording is sent over an encrypted connection to Groq, the third-party AI provider used by Wispro. When you use Smart Mode or another AI-assisted feature, the resulting transcript and any text you intentionally provide as context may also be sent to Groq for processing.
The Windows app sends this content directly to Groq and does not upload it to Wispro-operated servers. If you use the optional dictation demo on our website, your audio or text passes temporarily through our website server so it can be forwarded to Groq and the result returned to you. Temporary web audio uploads are not intentionally retained after the request. We do not use your content to train AI models. Groq's processing of content is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
Clipboard data
Wispro may temporarily read selected text from your clipboard when you invoke a feature that requires it. It also places generated text on the clipboard so it can paste that text into the active application. Clipboard content is not sent to Wispro-operated servers.
API keys
Your Groq API key is stored locally on your device using Windows Credential Manager or Windows Data Protection API encryption. We do not collect the key and cannot access it. It is shared only with Groq when needed to perform a request you initiate.
Local app data
Your settings, custom dictionary entries, snippets, notes, usage totals, and transcription history are stored locally on your device. Wispro does not operate a cloud account system for this data. You can clear supported local data from the app or remove it by uninstalling Wispro.
Website submissions
If you contact us or submit feedback through our website, we process the name, email address, message, and any optional screenshot you provide. We use this information only to respond, provide support, investigate issues, and improve Wispro. Uploaded screenshots are temporarily handled for delivery with your message and are deleted from the website server after the submission attempt.
Website session data
Our website uses session cookies or similar session identifiers for essential functions such as form security. These are used to operate and protect the requested feature, not for advertising.
2. Third-Party Services
Wispro uses Groq for speech-to-text transcription and AI text processing. Data you choose to send to Groq is handled according to Groq's own terms and policies. We encourage you to review the Groq Privacy Policy.
3. No Account Required
You do not need to create a Wispro account to use the desktop application. The app does not ask us to collect your name, email address, phone number, or other direct personal identifiers.
4. How We Use Information
We use information only as needed to provide app features, respond to website messages, maintain security, diagnose errors, and improve Wispro. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data Retention and Security
- App settings, history, notes, snippets, and dictionary entries remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall Wispro.
- API keys are protected locally by Windows security services and are never transmitted to Wispro-operated servers.
- Contact and feedback submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond, provide support, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but we use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information involved.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You can clear supported history and settings, remove your API key, or uninstall Wispro at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you submitted through our website. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
7. Children's Privacy
Wispro is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date shown above. Your continued use of Wispro after an update is subject to the revised policy.
